The Estate

A legacy of architectural excellence

Designed by Isidre Puig Boada, disciple of Antoni Gaudí

Built in 1923, the estate was designed by Isidre Puig Boada (Barcelona, 1891–1987), one of Antoni Gaudí’s most distinguished disciples. Puig Boada first met the master in 1914 while still an architecture student, and went on to become a key collaborator on the Sagrada Família, eventually serving as director of its construction from 1966 to 1974.

A devoted scholar of Gaudí’s vision, he authored the first comprehensive book on the Temple in 1929—based on his personal conversations with Gaudí and the original blueprints, many of which were later lost in a fire. His residential works, including this Bonanova estate, reflect the same commitment to craftsmanship, noble materials, and timeless design that defined Barcelona’s golden age of architecture.

Comprising three stately buildings with sixteen residences, Vilana Gardens has been meticulously restored to meet the highest contemporary standards while preserving its original character: exposed stone walls, arched windows, ornamental facades, and the unmistakable spirit of early twentieth-century Catalan architecture.
